The collection consists of student papers from a Renaissance literature class taught by Irby Cauthen. These were saved by him "to show what in those long-ago days students could do." Papers include "Servant-master relationships in Ralph Roister Doister," by Edward Steiner; "Friar Bacon vs. Doctor Faustus: the comic conjurer" by James Guinivan; "The Loki-figure in Elizabethan comedy" by Florence Newman; "The shoemakers' holiday and Friar Bacon and Friar Bungay" by Thomas Scherer; and "Nicholas Udall's Ralph Roister Doister in relation to its sources Miles Gloriousus by Plautus and Eunuchus by Terence" by Beth McKenzie.
